On our way back from the European Broadcast Summit 2024 by DPP, one quote truly resonated: “We want to produce content, not code.”

Streaming platforms are pivoting towards forging strong partnerships with reliable collaborators who posses deep insights into content production, workflows, business models, and audience experiences.

Here are our key insights from EBS 2024:

Metadata: Despite its significance, broadcasters are still grappling with developing an effective data strategy that encompasses the entire supply chain. While the data exists, the challenge lies in defining its purpose and establishing meaningful connections.

IP infrastructure: As use cases, standards, and implementations continue to evolve, the importance of software integration in broadcast engineering becomes increasingly apparent.

Cloud production: Although there’s a desire to increase cloud-based production, broadcasters remain cautious about its implementation.

Hybrid cloud architecture: Broadcasters aim to maintain control over their journey but face challenges in acquiring the necessary skills within their organisations.

AI: Discussions revolve around the risks and rewards of artificial intelligence adoption, with broadcasters recognising its potential as a tool for exploration, while being mindful of technical and legal considerations.

A huge thank you to the DPP team for providing invaluable insights. We’re thrilled to have supported this event with Jay for the first time. Until next year!
